And when I came home, I couldn’t help but feel like I was missing out. I wanted that same mesmerizing fall experience that had become consistent in my life.
And now I want to share all that work with you!
To share my newfound fall finds with others who might have had similar doubts, I made a Google Map. It’s like a secret guidebook to Eastern Idaho’s autumn colors, just waiting for you to visit.

There are literally more than 50 locations share on the Google Map for you to check out, but here are some highlights

Island Park is mostly covered in pine trees, but it also has some deciduous trees and underbrush throughout. . As the deciduous trees and underbrush embrace the autumn change, the contrast against the rich, dark green of the evergreens creates a captivating natural canvas. Here, the changing colors of fall find the perfect stage to showcase theircolors, making Island Park a truly enchanting destination for leaf-peeping enthusiasts.
Idaho Falls Greenbelt
The Greenbelt in Idaho Falls includes many different areas but some of the best to see fall color are Snake River Landing, The Riverwalk, and Freeman Park. The wind has been known to ruin this location from time to time, but if you can get there before the weather gets bad, this is an amazing and convenient way to see some fall color.
Palisades Reservoir – Swan Valley
The drive from Idaho Falls to Alpine Wyoming is incredible during the fall. The trees along Palisades Reservoir turn striking red and oranges. That coupled with the mountain lake creates a view that is hard to beat. Bonus tip- stop in to Rainey Creek Country Store and get yourself some square ice cream!
City Creek Trails – Pocatello
Pocatello offers a variety of canyons to explore and discover the vibrant colors of fall, but City Creek stands out as a convenient and accessible option. This extensive trail system is rich in color, providing an easy and quick escape to nature’s seasonal changes.
